Pattern Site Launch Announcement

(Note: As of the end of 2016, I discontinued the Pattern Site. For those looking to have a simple custom website to compliment their Etsy Shop, it is certainly a worthwhile option, but it wasn’t serving my purposes. See more in this Post!)

The arrival of Fall is all about new experiments, and new adventures, for me this year. Among them, I am happy to announce, is a new website just for the Etsy Shop.  Earlier this year, Etsy introduced this new website option called Pattern. Now, Etsy shop owners can have a website that they control through the same interface as their shop. However, you can have your own domain, the freedom to customize your site and the convenience of offering the same easy Etsy checkout for your patrons.  I looked at it early on and was dissatisfied with the available tools and designs. It is evolving quickly though, with many more design options including colors, fonts, and now a built-in blog. I decided to take the plunge. I hope it continues to improve and become more flexible. I think it will.

I am anxious to see what effect, if any, it will have on my Etsy sales and statistics. And in the long run, will it be what I want to replace a stand alone website such as this one? Don’t get me wrong. This O-Deer.com blog and website has been a labor of love. I have enjoyed working on it, but it has never really taken off. Perhaps I am too scattered to do a good job promoting it, or I (and my busy cohorts) just don’t have the time and energy to do it justice. At any rate, I am disappointed to note that my old Blogger Blog— A Glitch in Time — that I haven’t posted on for more than a year, often has more traffic than this one.

With that in mind, if the new Pattern web site does indeed deliver me more customers and traffic, I think I will ultimately be ready to let go of my beloved Word Press site and consolidate my online presence somewhat.

Truth is, I haven’t been spending enough time working on listings for my Etsy shop, and with the Holiday Season imminent, I need to be devoting my time to that. Here’s some recent listings

I’ve been wondering about the Etsy Pattern website stuff myself. I have a my own website and blog, along with my Etsy and Folksy stores , so I’ll be interested to see whether you get more traffic through the Pattern site. I’d love to know how people get lots of visitors and sales too!

Thanks so much for stopping by, Louise! I will be sure to keep you updated on response to the Pattern Site. I, too, always wonder at some folks ability to generate large numbers of followers and good traffic. I am constantly reading and trying out different approaches, but the returns have certainly not equaled the effort I put in.
I guess we just keep trying 🙂
