A Rose Will Still Smell As Sweet…
Whether flowers are displayed in a mason jar, an old tin can or a Lalique vase costing thousands of dollars, they are lovely. But how, where and in what we choose to display our posies, ferns or other foliage says a lot about our personal style. The type of vase or container we use reflects and enhances the decor in which it is situated. Gaia and I have several unique and beautiful vases listed at our Etsy Shop…
Mid Century Vase with Rose and Leaf Design: Made in Japan Porcelain Bud Vase with Gold Trim ~ $14.00
Kitschy and unusual shaped vase with pink roses and green leaves on creamy porcelain background. Highly textured and highlighted with gold trim. This gorgeous piece from 1940s or 50s has one *broken leaf* but no other chips or cracks that I can discern. 6 inches tall at highest point and 3 inches across at top.
Vintage white glass bud vase, a gracefully curved 7 3/4 Inches tall with a painted floral design. Gold trim around top rim. Quite nice, probably made in the 1960s or 70s. There is some slight wear on the floral design and the gold trim.
Maryleigh Pottery Bud Vase with Delicate Floral Design: Vintage Staffordshire Pottery Handcrafted in England ~ $10.00
Darling bud vase made by Maryleigh Pottery in Staffordshire, England. This delicate vase is 6 inches tall. The onion bulb shape is trimmed around the top rim with gold. It is in good vintage condition, no visible cracks or chips, but quite a bit of crazing.
Ceramic owl print bud vase with gold trim along top and bottom rims. This slender vessel is 6 1/2 inches tall and about 2 inches in diameter at the widest point. The bottom is marked “Small World Greetings: Japan”. No chips or cracks. Good condition except for mysterious blue stain near the bottom curve of vase. Does not come off that I can tell. Not very noticeable.
Mid Century Modern Italian Art Glass ‘Satinato’ Finish Blue Bud Vase with Pencil Neck Stem ~ $45.00
This art glass vase has no sticker, but I believe it to be a Carlo Moretti blue Murano glass ‘Satinato’ pencil neck stem vase. Pictures and information from 20th Century Glass helped me to identify it.
A beautiful example of Mid Century Modern decor, this vase is 10 inches tall. Pedestal base is 3 inches in diameter. As far as I can see this vase is in perfect condition with no visible flaws.
I can’t believe another month has gone by. I hope February was sweet for you, and that March will blow in new adventures and blessings as it brings in Spring.
Till next time!
