A Few of My Favorite Things Blogs/Websites/Shops, etc.

As another year winds toward it’s close, I look back and see that my tastes and style have changed somewhat. Just as trends have altered over the course of the past twelve months, so too have my favorite places to read, shop and browse on the internet.

For several years, it was all about Pinterest during my downtime. Although I still maintain three Pinterest accounts and spend a few minutes on one or more of them most days, my social browsing has mostly become  Instagram these days. While Pinterest seems a bit stale to me of late, and so much more driven by large commercial interests than it was earlier on, I still find plenty of fresh ideas and businesses on Instagram.

If you saw my 2016 Gift Guide a few weeks ago, you know that  I am an avid Etsy shopper as well as being co-proprietor of my shop—O Deer Mercantile—on that venue. However, I constantly discover new shops on Etsy, and some of those that I shopped at last year were replaced this year. It is much the same with the Blogs and Websites I go back to repeatedly, or follow on Social Media. There are those I have followed for a long time, but lots of new ones too. I am going to point you toward my Online Crushes  of 2016!

Food and Recipes

I cook a lot, so I spend a good deal of time-saving and trying out new recipes…

  1. Half Baked Harvest  (My absolute favorite food Blog!!!!)
  2. Spoon Fork Bacon (So Much Yummy!)
  3. Sally’s Baking Addiction  (So, I love to Bake 😀 )

Decorating and Photography

There’s so much amazing inspiration out there! I love it all, from Farmhouse to Mid Century Modern. Here are some favorites…

  1. From Moon to Moon (Bohemian and Eclectic Love!)
  2. At Home: A Blog by Joanna Gaines  (Yep— I watch Chip and JoJo pretty much every week!)
  3. Fiona and Twig (Anne Lorys Beautiful Photography)

Thrifted and Upcycled

My Thrift Store Addiction- A thrift Store Christmas Tree Farm

As a vintage seller, collector and just plain fanatic, my heart lies in the chasing of the bargain, the discovery of discarded treasure, and the art of giving second life to the items of days gone by…

  1. My Thrift Store Addiction (Cecilia uses some of her awesome finds in the most creative and fun ways!)
  2. Adirondack Girl @ Heart (Not only amazing and antique and upcycled finds, but great articles about the hunt, valuing your finds and how to spot these bargains.)
  3. Organized Clutter (Absolutely fabulous ideas on recycling, repurposing and displaying vintage finds.)

Blog Love

Some sites you just love because you can’t help yourself. These two are examples of those I first followed on Instagram but loved so that I read everything I come across by or about them.

La Abeja Herbs Apothecary

La Abeja Herbs creates medicine for the Dreamer, the Visionary, and the Lover. All that we at La Abeja Herbs wish to share with you is for the express purpose of nourishing the wild aspects that live within you…

La Abeja Herbs (I am a long time advocate of using herbs and herbal healing, but Sophia Rose’s site encompasses so much more. These products are thoughtful, wild-crafted and useful—the blog and other writings on this site magical. And the photography never fails to stir my heart. A web site and business that nourishes the soul.)

Goats of Anarchy (Yes… I love Goats! And there is so much to love on this site, and in all the attention Leanne Lauricella and GOA has put on the plight of these small furry orphans. So heartwarming!)

There are so many talented, amazing folks blogging, making and creating out there. I only have time to skim over just so much of this loveliness in the course of my busy weeks.
