Night Lights… Candle Holders and Candelabrum
Nothing is more romantic than candle light. Through the years, these humble wax cylinders have gone from a house-keeping necessity to an indulgent luxury. Candles come in many shapes, forms and even materials, though wax is still most common. They are scented, colored, carved and dipped, among many other things.
The holders for these combustible delights are just as varied and intriguing. From lamp and lantern, to pillar, to votive, to homely bedside candlestick holders, there are a myriad of choices. Some holders are singular while others are commonly found in pairs—there are beautiful glass confections meant to support anywhere from two to a dozen candles called candelabrum as well as plates for pillars and bowls for floating glim. Vintage candle holders come in a staggering variety, with something out there to compliment every imaginable type of decor. We have a few beauties in stock on O Deer Mercantile at present, and more in the weeks to come.
This week’s feature includes selections from Art Deco to Americana and Hollywood Regency glitz. If you don’t find something you like, check back because I am regularly adding new items to our inventory.
